Kyle Ross (Marquette)
Despite being online because of COVID-19, EMD managed to really remind me of the community spirit of EastMo debate.
Annie Gu (Parkway Central)
EMDebate creates a family. Because the student - instructor ratio is pretty large, you get a lot more 1-on-1 feedback and practice.
Donovon Moore (Ladue)
By having East MO kids run the camp, it's especially catered towards the East MO circuit's judges.
Ivy Reed (Clayton)
I feel so much more prepared for competition this year, and it really eased some stress I know I would've experience before our first tournament.
What past students have to say:
Learn debate skills.... ...and life skills
through lessons, drills, a tournament with September's topic, small mentor groups, Q&As about college + mental health, extemp debates, and more!
8/5 - 8/6 will be the camp tournament, and students will not meet over the weekend so they have time to research
mentor groups meet daily (1 instructor + 4 students)
Meet the Founders
After graduating high school in 2018, we realized that we were lucky to have amazing coaches and resources to excel at debate. Neither of us went to any debate camps because they were expensive and not tailored to EastMo. Most of what made debate fun was meeting people from other schools, and we wanted to give back to the community to help others reach their potential and form bonds like we had. So, we decided to make EMDebate, with the core values of affordability, community, and usefulness.
Public Forum Instructors
All of our instructors have been EMD students in the past, and they loved the community so much they wanted to give back and teach! Since they've gone through camp, they know how to keep students engaged and learning.
